Defending champions India defended their total of 233 against Australia to enter the 2020 Under-19 World Cup semi-finals. This is the third straight time that India has entered the last four stage of the tournament.

India versus Australia U19 semis

Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal top-scored for India with 62(82) and Atharva Ankolekar remained unbeaten on 55(54), while pacer Kartik Tyagi took four wickets in the match.

Invited to bat, India lacked a substantial partnership until Atharva and Ravi Bishnoi joined forces to raise a fighting 61-run stand for the seventh wicket. It gave India a 233 on board.

Surprisingly, 6 of the 10 Australian wickets fell in two overs. The Kangaroos were rattled in the beginning as young 3 wickets fell in young Karthik Tyagi’s spectacular 1st over of the innings and the other 3 went down in the 42nd over.

When Australia required 85 runs off the last 10 overs, Bishnoi broke the 81 run stand while Australia was changing the gears by getting rid of Scott, while left-arm pacer Akash Singh sent back Fanning. With that India was put in the driver’s seat.
